Featuring Robert Boyd, Assistant Director, Aviation Environment – Environment and Sustainability, International Air Transport Association (IATA)
It is clear that aviation, like all sectors within society, will need to be at or nearing net zero emissions by around the middle of the century. While there are different ways to achieve this decarbonisation objective, current thinking is that Sustainable Aviation Fuel will do much of the heavy lifting. This presentation explores the current status of SAF, understand the complexity and importance of sustainability, global policy momentum, commercial and strategy considerations for airlines, potential impacts on fleet decisions, the role of airports, as well as the potential role for non-drop in fuels such as hydrogen and other CO2 mitigation strategies.
