Sustainability remains at the forefront of all ISTAT activities and discussions with the adoption of sustainable practices promoted and encouraged as the aviation industry works toward a low carbon future.
ISTAT carefully selects venues and vendors that adopt sustainable practices for events.
What ISTAT is doing at events:
- Eliminating printed materials and offering a conference app for communications.
- Providing the “meal of the day” for attendee’s lunches to optimize ingredients and reduce food waste.
- No individual pads, pens, candies, etc, instead placed in each meeting room to reduce waste and plastic use.
- Meeting room temperatures will stay consistent to reduce energy use.
- Collecting and recycling plastic badge holders.
- All vendor rentals for furniture, floral, and deliveries are locally based, eliminating delivery emissions.
- Sourcing energy efficient vehicles for attendee transportation and delivery of equipment.
- Hired buses for transportation are state-of-the-art vehicles which assist in reducing emissions and comply with the latest environmental policies and legislation. (Buses will be turned off when not in sure to save on carbon footprint; no idling.)
- Eliminating single use plastic and using recyclable materials when possible.

Do Your Part to Support Sustainability
We need your help to work toward a low-carbon future. There are many ways you can support sustainable practices while attending an ISTAT event:
- Pack light and help reduce airline emissions.
- Use mobile apps and online platforms to check into your airline and Hilton properties as well as navigate your ISTAT event.
- Bring your own reusable water bottle instead of plastic water bottles.
- Choose locally sourced, plant-based foods or more veggies where available.
- Leave the soap in your hotel bathroom to be recycled.
- Use the recycle bins in your guestroom and throughout the hotel.
- When possible, ride-share with colleagues, request hybrids, EVs or sedans rather than gas-fueled taxis, rental cars or SUVs or consider using public transportation or walking.
